Arvada Care and Rehabilitation resident, Cheryl, is the poster child for hard work! She was involved in a car accident in September and broke her left ankle, right hand, and left thumb. As a result of her injuries she was non-weightbearing on upper and lower extremities. Despite her incredible work ethic, her weightbearing status limited her potential in inpatient rehab.

Transferring to Arvada, she remained dependent on staff for her mobility. All the while, Cheryl enthusiastically participated in physical and occupational therapy 5x per week, driven by a strong motivation to return home with her son.

In December, Cheryl received exciting news that she could bear weight on all limbs! She immediately began working on increasing strength and endurance with walking. Progressing from parallel bars to a walker, Cheryl is now able to walk 75 feet! With therapy’s help, she is also more independent with ADLs. We are so proud of her, and most importantly, Cheryl is confident and proud of herself!
